I am a professor of history at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. My research focuses on modern Latin America, particularly, Colombia and the interstitial places in the circum-Caribbean. Most importantly, I examine the lived experiences of African-descended peoples. Over the years, I have developed intellectual interests in the scholarship of teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to world history. I also work in collaborative and interdisciplinary contexts.
